Film Screening of BOYCOTT
Join Sackville Ceasefire Now for a film screening! BOYCOTT (1hr 13min) is directed by Julia Bacha, and produced by Suhad Babaa and Daniel J. Chalfe. When a news publisher in Arkansas, an attorney in Arizona, and a speech therapist in Texas are told they must choose between their jobs and their political beliefs, they launch legal battles that expose an attack on freedom of speech across 37 states in America. Boycott traces the impact of state legislation designed to penalize individuals and companies that choose to boycott Israel due to its human rights record. A legal thriller with “accidental plaintiffs” at the center of the story, Boycott is a bracing look at the far-reaching implications of anti-boycott legislation and an inspiring tale of everyday people standing up to protect their rights in an age of shifting politics and threats to freedom of speech. We invite you to stay after the screening for a discussion about how Boycott can be applied in our very own context of Sackville. Please bring cash! Pay What You Can. All proceeds will be donated to support people in Canada who are being targeted for demanding a Free Palestine (legal defense fees, etc.)! We will provide proof of donation on instagram @ceasefirenow_sackvillenb. Masks are strongly encouraged. Air filter will be running.
