Sackville Film Society: NOUVELLE VAGUE

Dir. RICHARD LINKLATER USA 2025. 105 min: Linklater's elegant love letter to the influential era in French cinema (which even inspired the New Hollywood generation) would be a towering achievement even if it did no more than generously invite budding cinephiles to film history without intimidating them. But the American auteur of loose-limbed rhythms and organically flowy dialogues accomplishes a lot more with his joyously beautiful telling of the making of Jean-Luc Godard's game-changing Breathless.
