The Drowning Girls, directed by Valmai Goggin

The Motyer-Fancy Theatre is thrilled to announce the upcoming production of THE DROWNING GIRLS, a compelling and wholly original story: three women, three bathtubs, and a lot of water on stage. The play explores the true crime stories of Bessie, Alice, and Margaret – three women who were deceived, married, and murdered by the same man, a charming romantic with dark intentions. Audiences will see the Motyer-Fancy Theatre as never before: The set features three bathtubs full of water and three actors play dozens of characters as they seek justice for their tragic deaths. Directed by faculty member Valmai Goggin and featuring a scenic design by Resident Designer Ian McFarlane, the show is both an artistic and logistical feat for the cast and crew. Goggin shares, “I was looking for a Canadian script that would offer unique challenges to our students in terms of design, staging, and content. The Drowning Girls was the ideal fit. It’s become a modern classic in Canadian theatre, and we’re delighted to share it with Sackville audiences.” The production will run at the Motyer-Fancy Theatre November 29 – December 2.
